A rack’s worth of memory beside a desk
AMD used IFA 2026 in Berlin on 4 September to show the Threadripper Halo Station, a fully liquid-cooled workstation built around a 96-core Threadripper PRO 9995WX and up to four PCIe Instinct MI350P accelerators. Configured with all four, the machine carries 576GB of HBM3e with 16TB/s of aggregate memory bandwidth, alongside up to 2TB of DDR5 — up to 2.6TB of memory in total across the system.
Each MI350P is a CDNA 4 part with 128 compute units, 144GB of HBM3e, 4TB/s of bandwidth and up to 4.6 petaFLOPS of FP4 compute. This is the first time AMD has put its Instinct data centre accelerators into a workstation form factor rather than a rack.
The pitch is local inference. AMD says the configuration can hold a trillion-parameter model at four-bit precision entirely in GPU memory, which is the difference between a model that runs and a model that spills into system RAM and slows to a crawl.
The comparison AMD is making
AMD positions the machine directly against Nvidia’s DGX Station, claiming 3.4 times the total system memory and more than twice the memory bandwidth. Those are AMD’s own figures, presented at its own launch, and no independent benchmark of the system exists yet.

The claim is at least the right shape of argument. For local inference of very large models, capacity and bandwidth usually bind before raw compute does, and a machine that fits the weights is worth more than a faster one that does not.
What was actually on the stand
The systems AMD showed at IFA had two accelerators installed, not four. The Register notes that power is the likely reason: four of these parts plus a 96-core CPU is more than a standard North American wall circuit comfortably supplies. AMD describes four-card configurations as a path rather than a shipping configuration.
Everything is liquid-cooled, including the CPU, which AMD frames as a way to keep both thermals and noise manageable in a room a person sits in.

Price, date and the part nobody said
AMD gave no price, no specific sales date and no OEM partners, saying only that the system launches next year. The Register put the likely cost at $100,000 to $150,000 — an outside estimate, not an AMD figure.
What to watch is the shipping configuration. If four-card systems need a dedicated circuit, the practical desk-side product is the two-card version at 288GB, which is a different machine from the one in the headline specification. The number that matters is the one AMD eventually puts on a price list.
