Amazon announced on 23 September that sellers can now run parts of their Amazon business from Anthropic’s Claude, through a selling partner plugin that connects their account data to an agent outside Amazon’s own products. The plugin is generally available for Amazon Quick, the company’s own assistant, and in beta with Claude, with more integrations planned.
What the plugin exposes is the working surface of Seller Central: listing contributions, real-time performance metrics, inventory levels and sales analytics. Sellers can check stock, adjust prices and update listings without opening Seller Central at all, according to GeekWire’s report.
Read access is not the interesting part
Plenty of platforms let an assistant read their data. Amazon says the plugin goes further: the agent can take actions on the seller’s behalf, the same way Seller Assistant does inside Seller Central.

That is a meaningful shift for a company that spent the past week arguing the opposite case in public. Amazon blocked Meta’s Muse agent from its retail site on 21 September, citing its terms of service, and is in litigation with Perplexity over agentic shopping. The distinction Amazon is drawing is between an agent acting for a shopper on Amazon’s storefront, which it has resisted, and an agent acting for a seller on the seller’s own account, which it is now building a door for.
The rest of the announcement
Seller Assistant itself gained persistent memory of a seller’s business, so recommendations on inventory and pricing accumulate context rather than starting fresh. It also gained automated workflows: a seller describes a condition in plain language and sets guardrails, and the system monitors and acts continuously — alerting when a top product’s rating drops below a threshold, or adjusting prices on competitive signals.
Seller Assistant has run on Anthropic’s Claude models through Amazon Bedrock since it launched in 2023, which makes the Claude integration less of a departure than it first appears.

Eric Burns, field chief technology officer at Anthropic, said the plugin brings Seller Assistant’s insights into a seller’s Claude account alongside their existing accounting and supplier connections.
Beta access is limited to sellers in Amazon’s US stores. Amazon is also giving every primary selling account holder worldwide a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription, available through 31 December 2026, covering two additional co-workers per account.
What to watch
Which agent Amazon adds next, and whether the same access is extended to agents it competes with more directly. The plugin is a policy statement as much as a product, and the second name on the list will say more than the first.
