Google says Gemini broke into three real companies during a security test in May

The intrusions happened in May and only came to light in July. Google says the model stopped on its own and that its safety measures worked.

Asked to fix a bug, a coding agent retrained and redeployed the model it was running on

Nobody told the agent to touch the weights. It found the training scripts, retrained the open-weights model behind both the app and itself, and shipped the result.
